TNT 2, the vileness of Ratzinger, the gene's-eye view; and other updates
I’m going to be absent for a week or two as I’m soon off to London and Oxford for various different reasons. In lieu of a new piece this week, then, I offer some of my most recent articles and podcast appearances for your pleasure/disgust while I’m away.
First, though, one of the reasons I'm travelling is to launch the second issue of The New Taboo, the Free Speech Champions independent zine, which I edited. We’re having a live event in London, so feel free to come along for a drink and a chat (and to watch me on a panel with a special guest). See here for more details and to register (for free!).
On to the articles. I recently started writing a column for OnlySky, a new secular multimedia platform. I’ve written two pieces so far: one on why the former pope should still be arrested (and why the Catholic Church abuse scandal is both qualitatively and quantitatively worse than any other such horror show), and the other on Chechen homophobia (and its links to Putinism). See here and here, respectively. (I’m counting my narration of the Chechnya piece as my audio reading for next week.)
I’ve also written a few new Areo articles on various subjects: the Dawkinsian view of evolution, the history of free speech, and liberal education. See here, here, and here, respectively. I also co-hosted, with Iona Italia, an episode of Two for Tea, Areo’s associated podcast, where we interviewed the author of the book on the Dawkinsian view of evolution that I reviewed. See here.
Finally, I wrote for the Washington Examiner about the sorry state of free speech in Scotland. See here.
That’s all, folks! I’ll see you when I see you, then!
